East Rockaway crew, Captain Peter Graffeo, Steve “Captain Video” Bohn and Leigh Block snag a giant truck tire from the marsh.
Captain Video suggests we enlist the assistance of the Nassau County Marine Patrol to possibly hoist the tire and bring it in to their port. NCPD and SPLASH crew try to lasso the tire.
NCPD politely send the SPLASH crew on its way without conducting psych evaluations. SPLASH crew makes their way to Bay Park boat ramp. Random good citizen offers to let Captain Pete tie the truck tire to the rear of his car.
Leigh Block stands back to avoid decapitation from flying bumper. “I’m strong to the finish, ‘cause I eats me spinach,” says Steve Captain Video as he does his best Popeye imitation. Steve suggests we use a piece of Trex that we rescued from one of the marshes to help slide the tire. The tire reaches dry ground and both car and crew are safe and sound. Captain Pete, Steve Captain Video, and Leigh celebrate their success.
Pete and Leigh wonder if Steve will take the tire home.
The crew sets out for their second trip of the day to dismantle a 40 foot dock that has been stuck on a marsh. Steve used his power saw to cut up the dock. The boat is filled to the max with wood, but Steve has an idea! “Let’s tow it,” says Steve. Steve rides the waves while Pete and Leigh wonder what would happen if we cut the line. Naaah, life would be boring. Upon arrival at the Bay Park boat ramp we were greeted by Nassau County workers who were perplexed as to how we got all this stuff. The answer was easy.
We are Operation SPLASH!
