Professional Development
With the recent implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), there is a pressing need for school districts to provide sustained science professional development (PD) for teachers. This need is particularly dire at the elementary level.
Without this support, teachers may find the implementation difficult .The PD we will provide moves beyond one-day workshop models; rather, it structured to accommodate individual teachers’ needs and allow for teachers to play an active role in their development. Thus, a coaching/push in model ideally paired in conjunction with bi-monthly afterschool active “working-shops” will introduce teachers to our ecological stewardship curriculum aligned with NGSS and the Common Core Standards.
